Summary
The SSRC seeks a Program Coordinator/Manager to work closely with the director of the Knowledge Institutions Program on developing a brand new project called StartL. StartL is dedicated to accelerating the progress of new media and technologies for learning. StartL will be launched this fall with funding from five large foundations and within one year plans to become its own stand alone organization, partnering with different incubators, design firms and advisory funds
Description
The Social Science Research Council is an independent, not-for-profit research organization founded in 1923. Based in New York City, it mobilizes researchers, policy makers, professionals, activists, and other experts from the private and public sectors to develop innovative approaches to issues of critical social importance. It does this through a wide variety of interdisciplinary workshops and conferences, fellowships and grants, summer training institutes, scholarly exchanges, research consortia and publications.

Qualifications
- Administrative and fiscal operations for the program, including budget management.
- Grant management, including tracking grants and writing annual reports and proposals to funders.
- Coordinating program-related events, including advisors meetings and workshops.
- Organizing outreach presentations, creating program materials, assisting with marketing strategy, and maintaining website.
- Other duties and additional responsibilities and projects as directed, depending upon interest and capacity.
Responsibilities
- Master’s degree but will consider well-qualified individuals with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Technology or media background strongly preferred; interest or experience in learning sciences is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years experience in program management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Team player who is also self motivated and can work independently within a fast-paced, start-up project context.
- Proficient in Internet applications and new media.
