Congratulations to Paul Krugman
The Social Science Research Council congratulates Paul Krugman for winning the 2008 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. Krugman’s seminal papers on international trade and the economics of location are of pivotal importance.
The SSRC is grateful for Paul Krugman’s leadership in its Applied Economics Program (1998–2005), his participation in summer workshops for PhD students, and his contributions to our more recent work on the privatization of risk (now the topic of a book series with Columbia University Press). He was a featured speaker at our October 2005 forum held in Washington, D.C., on “The Middle Class at Risk: Economic Security in America Today.”
So from me and all of Krugman’s friends at the SSRC, warm congratulations on this highest of honors!
