New Fellowship: Latin American Security, Drugs and Democracy

LASDD FellowshipThe new Latin American Security, Drugs and Democracy Fellowship Program (LASDD) provides support for doctoral dissertation and post-doctoral research across a variety of disciplines and fields. The fellowship is a partnership between SSRC, the Open Society Foundations and Universidad de los Andes.

In November, the American Human Development Project will release The Measure of America 2010-2011: Mapping Risks and Resilience. Public events will be held at the Institute for Public Knowledge at NYU and the Kaiser Family Foundation in Washington, D.C. to launch the new book.

Twelve religion scholars comment on the Pew Forum U.S. Religious Knowledge Survey at The Immanent Frame.

SSRC co-sponsored a congressional briefing on October 20, “National Statistics: Sound Science, Sound Policy, Strong Democracy.” [PDF]

Congratulations to the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this October!

Carnegie Corporation of New York has recently featured the SSRC Academia in the Public Sphere Program and its grantees.

SSRC Books has recently released Explaining Institutional Innovation: Case Studies from Latin America and East Asia, edited by Richard F. Doner, and Publics, Politics and Participation: Locating the Public Sphere in the Middle East and North Africa, edited by Seteney Shami.
