Topics:
The SSRC's HIV/AIDS Program launched the AIDS, Security and Conflict Initiative (ASCI) in 2006 in partnership with the Netherlands Institute for International Relations (Clingendael). Our aim is to identify and address critical gaps in knowledge in the study of the link between HIV/AIDS and security and conflict. Our work covers four thematic areas: (1) HIV/AIDS in uniformed services; (2) HIV/AIDS, humanitarian crises, and post-conflict transitions; (3) HIV/AIDS and fragile states; and (4) gender and crosscutting issues. Thus far we have funded research with twenty-three different partners and commissioned twenty-nine research reports examining these four thematic areas across regions. The ASCI final report will be launched in September 2009.
