CLA Longitudinal Study
The SSRC's Education Research Program, in collaboration with Pathways for College Network (PCN) and the Council for Aid to Education (CAE), is following over 2,300 students at 24 institutions in a longitudinal study examining what factors are associated with learning in higher education. Learning is assessed according to measures developed by the Collegiate Learning Association (CLA). We consider factors related to individual development as well as patterns of inequality associated with disadvantaged groups of students--including those from racial/ethnic minority groups, less advantaged family backgrounds, non-English speaking homes, and high schools comprising mostly non-white students. We released the findings from the study's first two years at a conference held in Chicago in November 2008.
