The Eurasia Program is not offering a fellowships competition and will not award any fellowships during the 2008-2009 academic year.
Due to a recent shift in funding, the SSRC Eurasia Program is unable to offer a fellowships competition in the upcoming 2008-2009 academic year. However, the SSRC is in the process of re-evaluating its Eurasia Program Fellowships and hopes to reinstate a fellowship competition in advance of the 2009-2010 academic year. Please check back for periodic updates on the status of this competition in the coming months. Any further changes to this program will be announced in early 2009.
In past years, the SSRC Eurasia Program has offered individual fellowships for research on the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and the New States of Eurasia, and especially research related to the non-Russian Eurasian states, regions and peoples. Funding for this program was provided by the U.S. Department of State under the Program for Research and Training on Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (Title VIII).
Regions and countries formerly supported by the program, including fellows supported during the 2008-2009 academic year, include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
