Humanitarian, refugee, and human rights organizations have found that the definitions, laws, institutions, and strategies of refugee protection developed after World War II do not adequately meet the contemporary needs of forced migrants. The SSRC Migration Program is exploring how international human rights can enhance protections for forced migrants in Africa through collaboration between researchers and practitioners in East and West African countries.
