Supporting innovative research on gender and social dimensions of the HIV/AIDS pandemic

Contributors to the UNESCO/SSRC volume on "The Fourth Wave: Gender, Culture, and HIV/AIDS" take a break from their meeting at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The volume is now online.

The SSRC's program on HIV/AIDS supports policy relevant research and international collaborations on the gender and social dimensions of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Working across academic disciplines and communities of practice, we commission research, provide fellowships, and carry out program evaluations and policy analyses. We work closely with multi- and bilateral partners, private foundations, research institutions throughout the global north and south. Recent initiatives have focused on the link between AIDS and crisis, on HIV-related sexual violence, and on children in HIV and AIDS-affected countries.
