Migration and Development

With over half the world’s population living in cities, rural-urban migration and urbanization seem to be fundamental to both internal and international migration and to development; yet the relations between these processes are often neglected. To strengthen research and help researchers and practitioners better understand how migration and development affect one another, the Migration Program has organized conferences, working groups, and research fellowships. These activities have produced web-based resources: an anthology on migrant remittances; a collection of essays assessing the future direction of research on migration and development; and an edited volume on internal and international migration and development.
