Varieties of Secularism in a Secular Age

The publication of Charles Taylor’s A Secular Age (Harvard University Press, 2007) substantially changed the increasingly widespread and dynamic conversation regarding religion and secularism within the social sciences, the humanities, and beyond. In collaboration with Yale University, the SSRC's Religion and the Public Sphere Program hosted an April 2008 interdisciplinary conference critically engaging A Secular Age. Harvard University Press will publish the conference proceedings, including a response by Charles Taylor, in a volume edited by Craig Calhoun, Jonathan VanAntwerpen, and Michael Warner.
