The SSRC convened a Roundtable Discussion on Women, Peace and Security in August 2011. Hosted by the Rockefeller Foundation, the meeting brought together foundation leaders, experts, and policymakers to discuss how women and gender issues could be a more explicit part of the philanthropic dialogue on peace and security. The meeting report identifies knowledge needs and gaps in this emerging field and actions to strengthen women’s leadership. It concludes with a series of recommendations for creating a funding community in this area and for building a more cohesive field of research, activism, and practice.
