Nicolas Guilhot joined the SSRC in August 2007 as a research fellow. He is also involved in developing the SSRC program on Knowledge Institutions. His current research focuses on the history of international relations theory, and on the role of philanthropy in the development of the social sciences. Prior to joining the SSRC, Nicolas Guilhot has taught in the department of sociology at the London School of Economics. He also holds a position as a senior researcher at the CNRS – Centre de Sociologie Européenne in Paris. His publications include The Democracy Makers: Human Rights and the Politics of Global Order (Columbia University Press 2005) and Financiers, Philanthropes: Sociologie de Wall Street (Raisons d’Agir 2004). Guilhot earned his doctorate from the European University Institute in Florence in 2001.
