Ciara Aucoin

Bio

Ciara Aucoin joined CPPF in June 2012. She received a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science and an MSc. in Development Practice from University of Dublin, Trinity College (TCD) in 2009 and 2012. Her masters dissertation, focused on decentralization and civic empowerment in rural Rwanda and based on 4 months of field research, received a distinction. Prior to joining CPPF, Ciara worked as a contracted researcher and analyst of armed conflict in Sub-Saharan Africa for ACLED, a global conflict mapping initiative and as the campaign coordinator for an Irish environmental NGO where she concentrated on climate change and water policy. Ciara was also an intern in the Situation Centre of United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) in UNHQ, New York. Her  research interests are post-conflict governance reform in Africa; decentralization and federalism; and China-Africa relations. Ciara is dual national of Ireland and the U.S. and grew up between New Orleans and Cork.
