Bio

Sara Getz joined the Council in August 2008. She received her BA in Political Science from Temple University focusing on the study of social movements and organizing with a particular interest in Latin America and education. Prior to joining the Council, she was a fellow in the Philly Fellows program through which worked at Research for Action, an applied research organization focusing on educational equity in Philadelphia and other urban centers. Sara's research interests include how Latin American immigrant communities use and view education as a means of community organizing, the educational experience of English Language Learners, and the intersection of race, class, and education. Outside of the Council, Sara is interested in vegan cooking and sometimes toys with the idea of going to culinary school.
