Bio
Jennifer Holdaway is a Program Director whose work spans several fields related to development, including migration, environment and health. She has a B.A. in Chinese Studies from Oxford University and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Graduate School of the City University of New York. She has taught in the political science departments at Brooklyn College and at Barnard College. Holdaway is also the Council’s China Representative and since 2008 she has been based in Beijing, where she is co-director of the Forum on Health, Environment and Development (FORHEAD). She has written and edited a number of publications related to migration and gender, migration and education, migration and development, and environment and health. Current projects include a mapping of research on food safety in China as part of a collaboration with the Food Climate Research Network on the environmental and health impacts of China’s food system. Her most recent publication is a review of social science research on environment and health in China forthcoming in the China Quarterly in June 2013.Programs and Projects
