Bio

David Kyuman Kim is the senior advisor and acting program director for SSRC projects on religion & the public sphere, as well as an editor-at-large for The Immanent Frame SSRC blog. He is an associate professor of religious studies and Inaugural Director of the Center for the Comparative Study of Race and Ethnicity at Connecticut College. In 2009, he was the inaugural Visiting Associate Professor of the Humanities at the Cogut Center for the Humanities at Brown University. His book Melancholic Freedom: Agency and the Spirit of Politics was published by Oxford University Press in 2007. He is co-editor, with Philip Gorski and John Torpey, of the forthcoming collection Exploring the Post-Secular. His current book project is Excessive Modernity and the Work of Memory.
