Bio

Alyson Metzger is managing editor of the SSRC. Before joining the Council in 2010, she worked as a commercial writer and editor for both private and public clients, specializing in proposal writing, strategic communications, business development, and project management; as an academic editor and copyeditor, with an emphasis on policy and the social sciences; and as a film and video producer and production coordinator. She studied English and French literature at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; French language and literature at the Université Paul-Valéry in Montpellier, France; and screenwriting at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has served as editor for a number of SSRC digital and print publications, including Helmet Day! Lessons Learned on Vietnam’s Road to Healthy Behavior (2010), Media Piracy in Emerging Economies (2011), and the online essay forum 10 Years after September 11 (http://essays.ssrc.org/10yearsafter911/). She recently coauthored, with Mary McDonnell, a chapter for Structural Approaches to Public Health (Routledge, forthcoming).
