Sara Maria Acosta joined the SSRC in October 2003 as a program assistant for both the Children and Armed Conflict Program and the Initiative on HIV/AIDS and Social Transformation. She holds a B.A. in international relations with a focus on global security from Brown University. Prior to joining the SSRC, Ms. Acosta worked at the Museum for African Art in New York as a museum educator. At the Museum, she developed visitors’ and teachers’ curricula guides and designed and facilitated educational public programs such as cultural events and academic lectures. Previous to that, Ms. Acosta worked as a world affairs teacher at the World Exchange College of Language in Beijing, China. Ms. Acosta is fluent in Spanish and French and has undertaken studies in Israel, France, Cameroon and Venezuela.
