Dinu Abdella joined SSRC in July 2006 to assist in the HIV/AIDS and Social
Transformation. She is expected to graduate in September 2007 from a Research
Masters in ‘Human Geography and Regional Planning’ at Utrecht University,
Netherlands. She holds an MA in ‘International Development Studies’ and a BA in
Social Sciences. Her focal study and professional interests are in gender,
conflict and security, health and development issues.
Prior to joining the council, Dinu carried out field research in Tanzania in
the area of (reproductive) health service delivery-its impact on women and
livelihoods, which was also developed into policy recommendations for
SNV-Netherlands Development Organization and Tanzania local authorities. She
has also carried out a population, HIV/AIDS and reproductive health study in
Ethiopia.
Previous to that, Dinu has extensive work experience with various international
and local NGOs in the Netherlands, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Sudan and Egypt, where
she has also lived in. Lastly, she is currently an active member of the SYLFF
-Tokyo Foundation and the United Network Organization of Youth (UNOY).
