"The Ideational Approach to Populism: Consequences and Mitigation" will be a three day conference held at the IE School for Global and Public Affairs in Segovia, Spain June 24-26, 2019. The conference is organized by Team Populism, a research group based at Brigham Young University. With populist forces gaining power in several countries for the first time in years, policymakers and citizens are more concerned than ever with populism’s consequences and how we should respond. Alternatives to Incarceration in Latin America and the Caribbean

Drug laws and the region’s untenable prison crisis are at the center of the drug policy debate in Latin America and the Caribbean. The incarceration of low-level drug offenders for exceptionally long sentences has left the region’s prisons bursting at the seams; the impact is not only felt by those incarcerated, but also by their families and communities. Cutting edge research by the Colectivo de Estudios Drogas y Derecho (Research Consortium on Drugs and the Law, CEDD) and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) sheds new light on the problem and efforts to address it through alternatives to incarceration. African Peacebuilding Network Grantee Research Methods Training Workshop

The African Peacebuilding Network (APN) and the Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa (Next Gen) program held a week-long joint workshop in Peduase, Aburi, Ghana for the 2019 cohort of APN Individual Research Grant (IRG) recipients and the 2019 cohort of Next Gen fellows. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the University of Ghana, Legon from June 24—28, 2019. 15 APN Individual Research Grant participants benefited from lectures, working group sessions, and one-on-one dialogues with experienced facilitators, including senior scholars, and current and former APN Advisory Board members.
