The African Peacebuilding Network (APN) and the Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa (Next Gen) program held a week-long joint workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for the 2019 cohort of APN Individual Research Grant (IRG) recipients and the 2019 cohort of Next Gen fellows. Drug laws and the region’s untenable prison crisis are at the center of the drug policy debate in Latin America and the Caribbean. The incarceration of low-level drug offenders for exceptionally long sentences has left the region’s prisons bursting at the seams; the impact is not only felt by those incarcerated, but also by their families and communities. Effectiveness of Peace Operations Network (EPON) – Annual Meeting and Seminar

On 13-14 November 2019, UVC Director Tatiana Carayannis and Senior Program Manager Aaron Pangburn participated in the Annual Meeting of the Effectiveness of Peace Operations Network (EPON). The first day served as an opportunity to report on network activities, tweak the common methodology for the research studies, and brainstorm potential new missions for 2020 site visits.
