Arabia-Asia: Imperial Media and Manpower between East and West Asia

Crowne Plaza Beirut

This roundtable of scholars, drawn from the SSRC InterAsia Program, will convene at the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) second general conference, "Questioning Social Inequality and Difference in the Arab Region." Panelists will discuss the visible and invisible ways in which media and manpower spin together empires, their allies, subjects and opponents in dynamics of co-operation and violent competition that bind Arabia and Asia in ways that are both old and new.

The conference will feature more than 80 paper presentations examining contemporary or historical phenomena and comparative, cross-regional and global perspectives from all social science and allied disciplines, and is open to the public. Please visit the ACSS webpage for more details.
