About the Event

To Secure Knowledge, a task force of the Social Science Research Council, was convened to consider optimal conditions for social science in this moment, including the infrastructure of social research, standards of inquiry, and the role that rigorous understanding plays in public affairs. “The New Research Compact” is a forum for discussing the Task Force's new report, which will be introduced by SSRC president Alondra Nelson and co-chairs Bernadette Gray-Little and Ira Katznelson. The report describes how present and future scholarship can be secured through partnerships between the academy, government, philanthropy, and the private sector. Such collaboration will assure institutional conditions for the creation and dissemination of social knowledge and will help to ensure that research continues to inspire policy decisions and informed public debate.
