Bio

Temesgen T. Beyan is a senior researcher at the Research and Documentation Center (RDC), Asmara and a lecturer in the Department of History at Adi-keih College of Business and Social Sciences (CBSS) in Eritrea. He received MPhil and PhD degrees from Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR), Makerere University, Uganda in 2018. He also received an MA in international public administration, from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2011.
Temesgen’s research focuses on peasants-state relationships in Eritrea. He has published (and in the process of publishing) three peer-reviewed journal articles titled, “Peasantry and Self-Reliance in Eritrea: State Management of Labour and Land” (Mawazo, Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences, Makerere University vol. 12, no. 1 & 2, 2017), “Unemployment and Social Disorder during the British Colonial Period in Eritrea (1941-1951),” Aethiopica (23), 2020, and, “Accessing Global Capital through Remittance: A Route to the Reconfiguration of Peasantry Mode of Production in Rural Eritrea,” in, Agrarian South, Journal of Political Economy, Vol. 10, no. 2 (2021).
