Bio

Oluwatosin Orimolade is a PhD student at the Makerere Institute of Social Research, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. Orimolade’s research interest is at the intersection of Political Theory and History. His PhD research is concerned with debates within political society on the most fitting political arrangement conducive to the preservation of Nigeria as a united political entity. Methodologically, Orimolade’s interest in historical social sciences enables him to pay attention to enduring structures, historical processes, temporal sequences, and the spatial dimensions of social and political phenomena. He participated in the 7th Annual Seminar of the Bielefeld Graduate School of History and Sociology (BGHS) on “Structures and Events: A Dialogue between History and Sociology’” in June-July 2015 and at the 4th Graduate Interdisciplinary Network for European Studies Summer School on ‘Dividing the World? Imperial Formations in Continental and Maritime Empires from the 17th to the 21st Century’ at the University of Cologne in June 2016. Orimolade has taught courses in political theory and political economy in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the Ondo state owned Adekunle Ajasin University in Nigeria since August 2013. He graduated with a BSc in Political Science in 2008 from the Obafemi Awolowo University, an MSc in Political Science in 2012 from the University of Ibadan and an MPhil in Social Studies (Political Studies and Political Economy) in January 2020 from Makerere University. He has co-authored a couple of journal articles.
