Bio

Sylvie Namwase is currently working as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Human Rights and Peace Centre: School of Law, Makerere University, Uganda. She just completed another postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark on human rights and peacebuilding in Africa. Sylvie holds a Ph.D., from the University of East London, UK and her thesis interrogated legal standards on the use of force during riot control. She also holds a master’s degree in law (LLM) from the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Sylvie received the Victor Dankwa award for best performance in the module: Human rights in Africa under the LLM program on Human Rights and Democratization in Africa, in 2011.
