Kevin Smith is a PhD candidate in comparative literature at the University of California, Davis pursuing a designated emphasis in critical theory. His research interests include modern and contemporary Korean poetry, modernist American poetry, and the German critical tradition. He is currently working on his dissertation on questions of uneven capitalist development and militarization in modernist poetry from colonial Korea (1910-1945), including the work of Yi Sang, Im Hwa, Kim Kirim, and O Chang-hwan.
