Godfrey Maringira is a Volkswagen Stiftung Foundation postdoctoral fellow based at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. His main areas of research include army desertions in Africa, the ethnography of war in post-colonial Africa, and peacebuilding initiatives in Africa. He holds a PhD in sociology from the University of the Western Cape. He is a recipient of an APN Individual Research Grant (2014), an APN Collaborative Working Group grant (2016-2018), as well as Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa 2012 doctoral dissertation completion fellowship.
