Narushige Michishita is vice president and professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo. Franziska Seraphim is associate professor of modern Japanese history and director of Asian studies at Boston College. She is the author of War Memory and Social Politics in Japan, 1945-2005 (Harvard Asia Center, 2006).
