African Policy Review and Analysis publishes in-depth policy-relevant, research-based knowledge produced by the Social Science Research Council’s (SSRC’s) African Peacebuilding and Developmental Dynamics (APDD) Research Policy Fellows. It focuses on a range of critical and emerging policy challenges, including concise, actionable options to practitioners and policymakers. Manuscripts should be sent as a Word document, along with a short biography to the editors at apdd@ssrc.org with the subject line: “African Policy Review and Analysis.” Please review African Policy Review and Analysis’s submission guidelines below before sending in your contribution.
Length and Format
- In order to increase readability and accessibility, we consider and accept manuscripts between 3,000 and 3,500 words in length. The manuscript should include the following: abstract, introduction, analysis, findings, and conclusions.
- If relevant, please include text, figures, photos, and tables in high resolution in your manuscript; indicating if these are produced by you, or reproduced with permission from other sources.
Authorship and Title: please include the author’s details, affiliation, and email address. You may also send us a link to your full bio on your organization’s website. Also, keep your title short: Ideally, not more than 12 words and/or less than 100 characters.
Referencing

- Please try to avoid using footnotes if possible and integrate material directly into the text.
Review Process
- Submitted manuscripts will be subjected to double-anonymous peer-review by leading experts and highly qualified and experienced policy analysts.
