In collaboration with the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), the SSRC's Migration Program is working to determine how members of diasporas and the U.S. government seek to influence one another in attaining their respective, and often clashing, goals toward migrants’ homelands. We have organized a working group of diaspora researchers and foreign policy practitioners to prepare a book that will examine and compare seven case studies of diaspora groups in the United States: Irish, Cuban, Haitian, Ethiopian, Jewish, Palestinian, and Iraqi. The volume is currently being edited; watch this space for updates.
