DESCRIPTION:The Anxieties of Democracy program is thrilled to sponsor several panels and a program reception at the 2018 American Political Science Association (APSA) annual meeting in Boston. A related panel will also be featuring SSRC President Alondra Nelson. \n“Comparative Perspectives on U.S. Populism and Potential for Democratic Erosion” \nThis panel will explore the role of political institutions in the success of populist appeals in the United States and abroad. \nParticipants: Nolan McCarty\, David J. Samuels\, Kirk A. Hawkins\, Levente Littvay\, Karen Long Jusko\, Kenneth M.
