Bio

Ridwan Abiola Kolawole is a doctoral student in the Department of Communication and Language Arts at the  University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His research interest is in the area of applied communication with a particular interest in media studies, journalism, development communication as well as the interface between conflict and the media. He is interested in multi-disciplinary research and has applied his communication knowledge to the area of conflict which gave birth to his PhD topic, “Exploratory Analysis of Identity Construction in Nigerian Media Framing of Farmer-Herder Conflict in North Central Nigeria.” Before now, he earned a BA and a MA from the same Department of Communication and Language Arts, University of Ibadan, where he researched on rural-urban sociology and Nigerian Media performance in relation to their developmental role respectively. Kolawole has had a professional experience in journalism having practised for ten years in both broadcast and digital platforms. He was at a time a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at Ecole Professionnelle Specialisee La Cite Universite, Benin Republic where he taught journalism and communication courses.
Kolawole is an associate member of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) and a member of the Rural Sociological Association of Nigeria (RuSAN). He is a fellow of Institut français de recherche en Afrique (IFRA), Nigeria.
