The overall aim of this study is to explore youth violence and its perceived impact on young people and the reaction of the community towards youth violence, using Khayelitsha as a case study. A qualitative research design will be adopted in this study and non-probability purposive sampling will be used. The study population consists of youth and adults who have experienced youth violence. This will help the researcher to be able to acquire relevant and in-depth information from a purposefully selected sample using semi-structured interview schedule as a research tool in conducting in-depth interviews with participants. The new findings will add to the body of knowledge regarding youth violence and community development and hopefully come up with practical and possible solutions to address this problem. The researcher feels that, there is a need for researchers in the field to further explore and identify issues surrounding youth violence in affected communities.
