Comparative Study of Legislatures and the Development of Political Parties
Comparative Study of Legislatures and the Development of Political Parties: Two goals in my project are to improve my ongoing work on party politics in Japan 1890—1990 and write articles in English; and to conduct research on the U . S. House of Representatives from a comparative perspective and examine the validity of theories on the development of legislatures. I would like to write articles in English because few Japanese scholars have done this. Also my analysis will serve as a comparative test of political science theories. I would like to conduct research in the U.S. Congress because I find Nelson Polsby's "institutionalization" analysis unsatisfactory and I hope to contribute to theoretical refinement of the concept.
