Dr. Lilian Namuma S. Kong'ani is an environmental governance scholar whose research and work explores the intersections of governance, inequality, social and environmental justice, and sustainable development. Her work focuses on inclusive governance, participatory decision-making, and amplifying the voices of marginalized populations, including women in development and peacebuilding processes. Dr. Kong’ani holds a PhD in Environmental Governance and Management and an MSc in Environmental Governance from the University of Nairobi. She co-led governance research and stakeholder engagement for the project “Cascading Climate and Health Risks in African Cities” at the University of Cape Town and is the laureate of the 2022 African Peacebuilding Network of Social Science Research Council (SSRC) Individual Research Fellowship grant. Previously, Dr. Kong’ani worked as a tutorial fellow/lecturer at the University of Nairobi. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented her research at local and international conferences, contributing to scholarship, which informs policy and practice on equitable and inclusive governance.
