About

Torrese X Arquee is currently the Program Assistant for the Religion in the Public Sphere Program. He received a B.A. in Women & Gender Studies at CUNY Brooklyn College with a focus on the history of African-American women’s activism, Black revolutionary movements, and politics in the United States. Prior to joining the SSRC, he served as an administrative assistant and research associate to Dr. Zinga A. Fraser, Director of the Shirley Chisholm Project on Brooklyn Women’s Activism. Under her mentorship, he conducted archival work related to the life and legacy of the Hon. Shirley Chisholm, including an analysis of her political theology. He is also an audiobook narrator and follows in the footsteps of his mother Chanctetinyea J.J. Ouellette as a freelance editor.
