Fatma Osman Ibnouf is an Assistant Professor, Researcher, and Trainer at Development Studies and Research Institute (DSRI), University of Khartoum, Sudan. Dr. Ibnouf obtained her BSc in Agriculture Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, Egypt. She obtained an MSc in Animal Production, Faculty of Animal Production, University of Khartoum, Sudan. Her PhD thesis focused on “Role of Women in Providing and Improving Household Food Security in Sudan”, which she received from the Center of Development Studies, University of Wales Swansea, UK. Since then she has participated in many training courses and workshops on issues such as gender, women studies, and human rights inside and outside of Sudan. Dr. Ibnouf is a motivated researcher in gender, food security, human rights, care-work, and development with a diverse background, having previously studied agriculture sciences before turning to gender and development studies. This diversity allows her to perceive problems from both a social and a scientific perspective. She has received a number of research awards and grants from the UK, Finland, Sudan, and elsewhere; and has several publications including a book, book chapters, research papers and review articles. She is a 2016 recipient of the Social Science Research Council’s African Peacebuilding Network’s Individual Research Grant.
