Political Representation of Racial Minorities and the Electoral System in the United States

My research subject is a study about the relationship between the political representation of racial minorities and electoral system in the United States. I would, especially, like to focus on such issues as follows: the history of voting rights of racial minorities; the obstacles to their full political participation; the on-going debate over the creation of "minority majority districts" under the 1965 Voting Rights Act; various proposals of proportional representation system; and the relationship between minority representation and the American Constitution.
