Sani Yakubu Adam teaches in the Department of History, Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. His main area of interest is the history of Islam in northern Nigeria with a focus on one of the major networks of the Tijaniyya brotherhood. Recently, his interest has shifted to the emerging discipline of African book history. He is currently working on a doctoral thesis with a focus on the Islamic book trade of Kano, one of the most vibrant Islamic book markets in the whole of Africa. He was a fellow of All Africa House Programme of the University of Cape Town in 2015. He has published many journal articles within and outside Nigeria and attended several conferences both locally and internationally.
