Edmond Madhuha is a PhD candidate in health sociology in the Department of Sociology at the University of the Witwatersrand. He is also a teaching assistant in the same department. He mainly works with first-year students assisting with lecturing, assessment of assignments, tests, tutor coordination as well as curriculum counseling. As a researcher, Madhuha was the in-Country (South Africa) research consultant for the African Population and Health Research Center – International Organisation for Migration sponsored project in 2017. The research project he coordinated was on sexual and reproductive health within the migration corridors of South Africa. He successfully handled this research work where he led a team of researchers in two different research sites. Madhuha’s research interests are broadly on masculinities and health. His current research interests explore health inequalities as manifested through black working-class men’s tuberculosis illness experiences in South Africa. This research builds upon his master’s study which explored the health-seeking behaviors of working-class men in Limpopo Province of South Africa. Based on his master’s research, Edmond went on to co-author a book chapter entitled “Responsible Masculinity in the edited book Connected Lives: Families, households, health and care in contemporary South Africa.”
