The Politics of Election Petitions in Nigeria's Fourth Republic

The study is about the Politics of Election Petitions in Nigeria's Fourth Republic. The study aims at unraveling the underlining forces, interests, influences and motives that determine the processes and outcomes of Election Petitions when electoral battles shift from the polling booths to the (courts) judiciary. The unending and long tortuous road to an election petition and the attendant conflicts that ensue from each Judicial sitting by supporters of political parties also constitutes serious national security threat to the polity particularly democratic consolidation in Nigeria. The role of gladiators including political parties, Judges, public opinion, security agencies and the electoral institution shall be investigated in substantiating perceived political and not legal undercurrents in Election Petition processes and outcomes in Nigeria's Fourth Republic.
