Bio

Baba Mai Bello is a lecturer in the Department of Languages and Linguistics at the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. He holds a BA in Linguistics/English (2000) and an MA in general linguistics (2004) from the same university. Baba obtained a PhD in African linguistics at the Bayreuth International Graduate School for African Studies (BIGSAS), University of Bayreuth, Germany in 2012.
He has participated in, and contributed to the proceedings of, a conference titled Crisis and Conflict Management in Nigeria since 1980, organized by the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, an Awareness Workshop for Teachers on Managing Conflicts in Schools organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, among others. Dr. Bello’s research explores the role of language in conflict and peacebuilding, and hopes that his research outputs will continue to be of use to policy makers and stake-holders in African peace and security.
