Overgrazing the Range? The Political Ecology of Pastoralists' Ethnoveterinary Knowledge and Ecological 'Rationality' in Morocco
By placing local, site-specific research on ecological change into a national and global historical, political, and economic context, my project will analyze how indigenous veterinary knowledge (and its gendered nature) and practice affect rangeland resource use among the pastoral nomadic Aarib of southern Morocco in the attempt to define a new, alternative view of ecological rationality in a North African pastoral community.
