Social Protection Policy Making in Kenya: A Study of The Dynamics of Policy Transfer

The title of the project is "Social Protection Policy Making in Kenya: A Study of the Dynamics of Policy Transfer." Through the study, I am seeking to examine the dynamics that have led to the transfer and adoption of social protection policies in Africa drawing from the case of Kenya. The project aims at creating knowledge on how ideas, institutions and different actors have promoted or hindered the process of adoption. Research on social protection has focused on impact on poverty, economic and social growth but little on the process of transfer and adoption of the policies. Uptake of programmes in Africa has grown but with reservations as the process has been donor driven and has failed to take into cognizance the domestic context. The research will ensure validity through triangulation - by employing multiple methods in data collection.
