Women Negotiating Peace: A Comparative Study of the Implementation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1325 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zimbabwe


Pamela Machakanja is an Associate Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies and Director of the Institute of Peace, Leadership and Governance at Africa University in Zimbabwe. She holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies and an MA in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom; as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Zimbabwe. Her research interests include peace and conflict analysis, peace and security, peacebuilding, transitional justice, memory work, leadership development, and gender and development. She is also the chairperson of the Working Group on National Healing Peace and Reconciliation in Zimbabwe. She is a 2016-2018 recipient and group leader of the Social Science Research Council’s African Peacebuilding Network’s Collaborative Working Group (CWG) Research Grant.
