Julieth Timoth Kabyemela is a Tanzanian, currently working as a lecturer in the Department of Arts and Media Studies at the University of Dodoma in Tanzania. She teaches theatre arts, film, gender, as well as communication-related courses. She has widely applied theater in addressing community challenges like breaking out of a culture of silence among secondary school girls in Tanzania through a program called “TUSEME” (Speak Out). She has also used theatre in encouraging women to participate in local politics in Tanzania. She is of the view that, if theatre is used properly in communities experiencing the persistence of conflicts, it can help to resolve them. Consequently, Julieth want to investigate the potentiality of using theatre for development for peacebuilding in farmers-pastoralists conflict-affected communities in Tanzania.
