Japanese Enterprise in America
JAPANESE ENTERPRISE IN AMERICA: An ethnographic study of the process of acculturation of two Japanese manufacturing firms in the United States. The research focus will be on the problems of cross-cultural communication between Japanese engineers and American workers during the start-up period of technological transfer; between Japanese top executives and American managers on human resource management, and between organizational subgroups with particular attention to ethnicity and gender. The project will test the exportability of the Japanese management style, will critically re-examine the paradigm of "Organization Development", and will test and refine an "Organizational Culture" paradigm.
