Cinema Crossing the Transnational Boundaries: The Popularity and Relevance of Bollywood Films amidst the Chinese Popular Imagination and the Formulation of Inter-Asian Identities

This research will encounter the question regarding the relevance of Bollywood films in Chinese popular imagination in the last two decades. It will explore the concept of the pan Asian identity and how it functions in creating a potential Chinese film market for Bollywood Cinema? It will encounter the idea of transnational cinema, and rather than addressing the east/west divide, it would confront 'how cinema crosses over the national boundaries within Asia.
