Award Information
The proposed project comprises an investigation of obstacles to effective international collaboration in technology development. The research design involves survey-based case study analysis of high technology firms currently involved in collaborative projects with international partners. An original element of the study is parallel data collection, using a standardized survey instrument, from Japanese, U.S. and European firms. The first segment of the study (data collection in the United States) has recently begun with funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce. I am now seeking an Abe Fellowship to sponsor field data collection in Japan. Collaborative technology agreements are rapidly emerging as a key element of the economic relation between the USA and Japan.
